I'll Remember April
I'll Remember April (1999) Trevor Morgan stars as Duke Cooper, with Haley Joel Osment as PeeWee Clayton, Richard Taylor Olson as Tyler Walker, and Yuki Tokuhiro as Willy Tanaka. Though Trevor Morgan is indeed the star of "I'll Remember April", it would seem that the marketers were trying to capitalize on Haley's popularity and featured him and his name on the cover. The story takes place in April of 1942, just a few months after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Duke and his pals are typical boys who like to run around in the woods and pretend to be Marines in search of the enemy. They find an injured Japanese submariner who washed up on shore, help him with his injuries, and try and get him to safety. | Secondhand Lions
Secondhand Lions (2003) is a sweet, coming-of-age movie about a 12-year-old boy named Walter (Osment) and his two eccentric uncles (Michael Caine and Robert Duvall). When Walter's irresponsible mom drops him off to spend the summer of 1962 at his uncles' home in Texas the shy youngster is in for many adventures, both real and imagined. The gruff uncles don't know much about raising a boy but they tell him tales of great fantasy - of battles against sheiks, of beautiful women, and of great riches. This is all set against the backdrop of the rumor that the uncles have millions of dollars in cash stashed away on the farm - along with numerous rumors as to how they acquired the money. When the wacky uncles buy a used lion Walter takes on the task of raising the tired old ex-circus beast. As Walter spends more time with his uncles, Hub and Garth, he starts the transition from shy boy to sturdy young man. He appreciates his uncles more with each passing day. But the mysteries remain; is there any truth to the fantastic stories his uncles tell him about their past? do they truly have great riches squandered away on the ramshackle farm? and if so, where did they get the cash?
